Tuesday Tutorial: Customize your webmix with the wallpapers feature

Tuesday Tutorial: How to utilize the wallpapers feature to personalize your webmixes

In this weeks Tuesday Tutorial we want to show you how you can a add a wallpaper to your webmix. You can choose from preset images, a selection of colors or upload your own image. To avoid your image appearing tiled, use a picture that has at least 1600 x 1200 pixels. Note: If you share a webmix, the user will not see the wallpaper in the preview version, e.g. www.symbaloo.com/mix/tuesdaytutorial. But once the webmix is added to an account, the wallpaper will show up again. Using this feature is a great way to personalize your webmixes, making them more distinguishable and thus is helping you to keep all your resources organized.

Fun Facts About Our 1,000,000 Symbaloo’ers

We recently reached 1 Million Symbaloo’ers and we thought it would be fun
to share the quirky make-up and activity of these users.

Symbaloo’ers are Power Users
At one million users, more than 10 million webmixes have been curated with over half a billion tiles created. Over 84 million minutes a week is spent on Symbaloo; enough time for a single person to be using Symbaloo for 58 days 159 years straight without sleep which would be one VERY old and cranky Symbaloo’er.

Symbaloo’ers Live Longer* (not medically proven)
It takes 15 seconds for the average person to type a url but only 5 seconds for a Symbaloo’er to find and click their Symbaloo tile. At this rate, a long time Symbaloo’er who clicks at least 10 tiles per day would save 24 whole days of typing in their lifetime. (If they started using Symbaloo at age 5 and lived to be 85) So, maybe Symbaloo doesn’t make you live longer but we sure add value to those last 24 days. ;-)

Symbaloo’ers are Diverse
Symbaloo’ers of all types, speaking many different languages can be found in almost 200 countries around the world. We even have a single user in the three countries of Fiji, Greenland and Burundi.

We are still anxiously awaiting the King of Zamunda to join Symbaloo…

Educator Spotlight: Jeffery Heil

This month we would like to feature Jeffery Heil for our Educator Spotlight. He is currently a technology resource teacher for the San Diego County Office of Education and also an adjunct professor at California State University of San Marcos. He found Symbaloo at the CUE Conference in Palm Springs last year and decided it would be a good tool for his students to use for their digital portfolios. View the video below as we discuss details of how he is currently using Symbaloo with his students.

Here is a webmix Jeffery created as an example for his students:

It appears that his students really enjoyed his class along with learning about Symbaloo. Check out their examples below to see their digital portfolios and comments about Jeffery’s class:
